Enlightenment & Arab Spring

Science was able to prove that the earth wasn't the center of the universe
The revolution of Tunisia started with an unemployed 26 year old man, Mohamed Bouazizi. Mohamed was born on March 29, 1984 and died on January 4, 2011. It started when the police took Mohamed's only source of money for him and his family, his fruit cart they assaulted him and beat him. That was December 17, 2010 he started work at 8:00 a.m. and set himself on fire at 11:30 a.m. less then an hour after the governor refused to see him or listen to him. And when he died on January 4, 2011 that pushed the people to start the revolution. Due to the anger and violence of the people President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali stepped down on January 14, 2011.

The people of Tunisia wanted freedom, direct democracy, freedom of speech. They found that there was food inflation corruption, high unemployment, poor living conditions, and a lack of freedom of speech.

It is similar because they figured out that they didn't have the freedom of speech. And they also didn't have the freedom of press. They didn't let the government control them they retaliated and argued. They used these freedoms against their governments to get their way. To have a better country and better living situations and more employment.
